The theme for this year is to “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”

After the Covid-19 pandemic, we see a lot of dialogue across corporates; we are talking about mental well-being because people are working from home, communication challenges, work pressure, etc., and I don’t think it is limited to corporate or just due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This day was created about 3 decades ago by the federation of mental health; they created this day as this was as relevant then, as is now.

We have seen a lot of dialogues around this have started, which is interesting, but what I realized is this is not limited to the corporate world

Naomi Osaka (Tennis Player) after her Olympic games, was covered by times magazine where she gave a very interesting statement she said

“ITS OK, NOT TO BE OK”

she was trying to say its high time for sports to prioritize mental health over other things,

There are numerous other examples:
Royalties like Prince Harry, who lost his mother at the age of 12, bottled all his emotions for 20 years, and he opened up and said that it affected not only his personal life but also his work life.

Salena Gomez, a youth icon, dealing with mental health issues, from being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and never thinking of therapy as taboo.,

That is the reason I say that it is limited to corporate; it’s with Royalties, sports, schools, everywhere.

We as a leader have to open a dialogue and let people know it is not a weakness, it’s not a disease, it’s a state, and we all need to work toward it.

At PEOPLECENTRAL, what are we going to do?
And which approach will we take, top-down or bottom-up?

We decided we don’t want to dictate as leaders; we are going to approach this bottom-up and for the next four weeks before the actual world mental day (10th October 2022)

so we going to open up a dialogue across our offices and speak to our people and see what we can do or what we should do what they think is irrelevant.

As they are going through this process and we want to create something sustainable that we can use in the company for the long term across all employees, new join as well as existing ones.

Four weeks from today, we will come back and share information on what we did and how it worked for us.

I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE GREAT MENTAL HEALTH AND A FANTASTIC DAY.

Thank you and if you like to share what worked for you or at your organization, which could be sports, offices, music, entertainment, clubs, etc. would love to hear.
