Celebrating failure
Celebrated Failure @ PeopleCentral
continuing from the post – “we are conditioned to celebrate only the success, and no one wants to talk about failures or how to deal with them.”
We had our first session celebrating failure last Friday.
When the invitations went out to the team, they had many questions apart from what we were ordering for food :
What do we prepare for this session
why are we celebrating failure? Why not the success
most were confused, and so was I, as none of us knew how this was going to play out.
Well, the day came, and we immediately failed even before starting the session; we failed to start it on time.
Well, that brought some smiles as we started.
The session started to unfold, and unbelievably it created a platform on its own.
As few started sharing how they failed, it’s just started putting most of them into a reflecting mode, and we had employees who never speak up at any session suddenly want to share.
The whole atmosphere became a big think tank.
To be frank, I wasn’t sure, even nervous and skeptical about this, but in the end, it turned out to be the best possible team-building session, which was not the actual intent.
The best part, the team wants to celebrate failures more often, as it gives them a perspective and equal opportunity to voice out.
